When talking about Philippine destination weddings, most couples think about heading out to a province located in Luzon or in the Visayas region. Unfortunately, provinces in the Mindanao region are often disregarded. In a positive light, this has allowed Mindanao to retain it mysticism and exoticness. As more and more discover its hidden beauty, soon-to-wed couples have now considered tying the knot here. And one of the most popular wedding destination in Mindanao is Davao City – the Crown Jewel of Mindanao.

Davao City is an independent city geographically located inside Davao del Sur. It is approximately 588 statute miles southeast of Manila. As one of the most progressive cities in the country, it can be reached via land, sea, or air. But most tourist prefer to take a two-hour flight from Manila to Davao, landing at Davao International Airport.

This province has its own array of noteworthy tourism destinations. These include Crocodile Farm, Fort of Datu Bago, Japanese Museum, Lon Wa Buddhist Temple, Museo Dabawenyo, Philippine Eagle Center, and People's Park, among countless others.

Of course, Davao City is famous for holding the Kadayawan Festival. It is derived from the Mandaya word “madayaw”, which means a warm and friendly greeting used to explain a thing that is valuable, superior, beautiful, good, or profitable. This event is held every second week of August and celebrates the bountiful harvest of Davao’s flowers, fruits and other produce as well as the wealth of the city’s cultures. To this day, the festival continues to honor the city's richness and diverse artistic, cultural and historical heritage in a grand celebration of thanksgiving for all of Davao City's blessings.

Davao Wedding
As a wedding destination, Davao City has everything other cities can offer and more. For one, it has noteworthy Davao wedding churches where soon-to-wed couples can hold their Davao wedding. The most popular would be the San Pedro Cathedral, the oldest church in all Mindanao. The original structure of the church was built in 1847 in honor of St. Peter, the city's patron saint. The old altar is preserved at the right wing of the cathedral. It also serves as the ecclesiastical seat of the Archdiocese of Davao. There's also the Shrine of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague and the St. Mary of Perpetual Rosary.

When it comes to Davao wedding venues, Davao has an array of affordable and high-class hotel wedding reception venues. These hotels also offer wedding catering services as part of their Davao wedding package. If the couple wants to commune with nature, couples can also have a Davao garden wedding. Weather is one of the most common concern of soon-to-wed couples when they will have a destination wedding. But in Davao City, this is never a problem since it is typhoon-free due to its location. Tropical storms and tidal waves are blocked by a peninsula. The city enjoys a weather that remains balmy all year round. It is characterized by a uniform distribution of rainfall, temperature, humidity, and air pressure. It has no pronounced wet or dry season. Weather predictability makes it highly conducive to agricultural production. Temperature ranges from 20 to 32 degrees Celsius.

And most importantly, Davao City boasts of its premier wedding suppliers who have been in the wedding industry for so many years. These professional Davao wedding photographers, wedding planners, florists, cake artists, wedding caterers, and wedding fashion designers are as good as other wedding suppliers from other provinces and in Metro Manila. Some of them have garnered awards and recognition from respected organizations.
