Iloilo, home of UNESCO’s World Heritage Miag-ao Church, the famous hablon fabric, and romantic heritage houses, is also the home of Kasalang Filipino nationwide wedding fair roadshow for 3 consecutive runs.
The wedding fair held last June 20-21 at Amigo Terrace Hotel showcased not only the artistry of Ilonggo wedding suppliers but also their entrepreneurial genius. The local tour operators association cleverly packaged Iloilo heritage tours as romantic honeymoon alternatives, while Ilonggo Producers Association presented unique local crafts perfect for wedding favors and giveaways.
The two-day wedding event locally dubbed “Kasalan sa Iloilo: A Dream Wedding” was generously punctuated by fashion shows from Iloilo’s renowned fashion designers Jaki Peñalosa and Mel Varca. Antique’s premier designers Oscar Alabariz, Jojo Sariaza and Cesar Saru also graced the fair and showcased their province’s pride.
Thematic wedding setups of Amigo Terrace Hotel, complemented by unique cake creations of Panaderia de Iloilo, greeted fair guests. Visitors were treated to delectable hors d’eouvres of the Hotel while being serenaded by Maria Acela and Froilan Navarro, formerly of the Troubadors. A special dinner fashion show by the Iloilo Designers’ Guild capped the event.
